I own a 2009 mazdaspeed3. I dont know of any simpler thing that can be used other than the pac if you dont want to splice into your wiring.

The image depicted shows the resistance change when wiring multiple subwoofer terminals. On pac homepage it says it fit mazda 3 2004 2007 and mazda 6 up to 2016. I already modified they speakers in my car to fit my new speakers and they work just fine.
